The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into changed lives that are close to home and around the world.  For more than 100 years, your Foundation has spent 3 billion USD on service projects.  The PolioPlus and Annual Fund-SHARE contributions go to solve problems with solutions proposed by fellow Rotarians from more than 35,000 Rotary Clubs.  Mary Beth Growney Selene states, “Once I was introduced to The Rotary Foundation, I felt good.  I wasn’t until I really understood our Rotary Foundation and its many nuances that I became committed to our Rotary Foundation.”

I first met TRF Trustee Mary Beth Growney Selene and her husband, PDG Alan Selene (Rotary District 5970), at a District Governor installation in Northwest Ohio in her waning days as RI Director.  The second time was days before she started her term as a Trustee at a Foundation event on water and sanitation.  Our paths have crossed at my wife’s Rotary Club and most recently in Atlanta at the RI Convention.  Each time that meet her, I leave energized from the wellspring of passion that she has for Rotary and our Foundation.

Mary Beth is the founder and President of Ryan Signs, Inc., in Madison.  She is a non-lawyer Fee Arbitrator and a (past) non-lawyer member of the Client Security Fund of the State Bar of Wisconsin.  Mary Beth is a former member of the Board of Directors and ongoing supporter of the What If? Foundation, which works to feed and educate children in Haiti.

Mary Beth Growney Selene has been a member of the Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton, WI, US since 1987 and she served her club as President in 1993/94.  She has been a host parent to four Rotary Youth Exchange students.  Rotary District 6250 Governor in 2000/01.  Mary Beth has received Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service.

Mary Beth and Alan are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation.  They are currently Sustaining Members to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation and Bequest Society members to The Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund.

A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Edina, Minnesota, US for making a recording of Mary Beth’s presentation to a joint meeting of their Club and Edina Morningside Rotary on November 20, 2014.
