The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships.  Let us remind ourselves of this test and use it throughout our daily lives.

Of the things we think, say or do:

1.  Is it the TRUTH?

2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3.  Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

What is your Bacon number?  In the mid-1990’s three college students observed that Kevin Bacon was in two consecutive movies they were watching during a snowstorm.  They decided to pick random actors and attempt to connect the person to Kevin Bacon either directly or through pairs of actors.  For example, Elvis Presley has a Bacon number of 2 through Ed Asner with the movies Change of Habit and JFK.  This game is largely based on the idea of six degrees of separation.  Originating in 1929, this notion states that all living things and everything else in the world are six or few steps away from each other.

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is an educational opportunity for Rotarians to develop their leadership skills.  The courses provide the attendees greater depth in Rotary knowledge.  The goal is to motivate the participants to be enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Rotarians.  Those attending the three course days for their full duration will receive recognition of completion.  Course methods will reflect the most innovative and participatory methods possible.  Methods will include discussion groups, role-playing, problem solving workshops, and group planning exercises.  A key feature of RLI is that that there are few lectures throughout the day.

Launched in 2011, Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD) is now active in a half-dozen countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.  This program is led by Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention in partnership with the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, the U.S. Mission – including the Centers for Disease Control, USAID and the health service delivery expertise of their implementing partners – and Ministries of Health.   Media partners promote Rotary Family Health Days in each of the countries.  In each country, Rotarians work alongside thousands of volunteers to help in various ways.

As a Rotary Club that meets online, we are unable depend on the financial support from a single local community for our service projects.  As a result, weekly donations from our members and visiting Rotarians is our primary fundraiser.  From your donations, the Rotary eClub of the Southwest USA can support Rotary initiated service projects around the world.  In the spirit of Rotarian service, we ask that you make a donation.  If you are a visiting Rotarian doing a make-up, we ask that you consider an amount that be equal to your meal price at your regular Rotary meeting.
