We are always pleased to have new members join ReCSWUSA, particularly if they have already experienced Rotary. As both one of the original Rotary eClubs and one of the few that remains truly global in nature, we are pioneering a new and evolving mode of Rotary membership. Let us share a few thoughts that are important for prospective new members to understand if they are to both enjoy their membership and contribute to Rotary’s service objectives.
While eClub membership provides great schedule flexibility for those with ever-changing business and personal demands, do not a expect eClub will have the internet bring Rotary to you. It is a way to use the internet to engage with Rotary and pursue your Rotary service interests. It may seem a subtle difference, and it is a critical one. Self-motivated individuals who will actively seek ways to engage within our club will find the schedule flexibility a truly great benefit. ReCSWUSA is clearly very different from a traditional Rotary “terra club.”
The lack of automatic and regular face-to-face contact between members creates a challenge for our eClub. To be a true Rotary club we must reach out to each other for both fellowship and service. Allowing our club to become a parking space for “RINOs” (Rotarians in Name Only) is not good for our club or Rotary. It breaks the chain of teamwork and fellowship, devalues the significance of others’ membership, and fundamentally fails The Four-Way Test.
Our motto is “Service without Borders” and as a truly global eClub. We span continents, nations, and cultures. We see our diversity as an opportunity to both explore and celebrate new modes of Rotary service. We encourage members to build relationships with their local terra clubs, those they encounter in their travels, or other community organizations they support. These connections are often opportunities to identify hands-on service opportunities, shared service projects, or opportunities for leveraging grant possibilities. Members should commit to sharing their Rotary interests and service experiences with other members and with the flexibility and ease of meeting attendance, members are expected to significantly exceed R.I.’s historic/traditional minimum attendance requirements.
Finally, we strive to be a 100% Paul Harris Fellows club and look to see all our members supporting the Rotary Foundation and make an effort to donate at least $100 per year. We understand that due to personal or professional reasons, occasionally members may encounter a period of time, which necessitates a reduced level of engagement, and they may be doing little beyond paying dues and attending a minimum of meetings. Our Board wishes to be very accommodating to special circumstances, provided members notify the Board of such. Our members can then provide fellowship and friendly support during these challenging times.
As a truly global eClub, we are always looking for new ways to advance Rotary’s service objectives and we seek members who wish to actively seek and build a future vision for ReCSWUSA and Rotary.
